The morning sunlight poured in as Aarish and the twins sat at the dining table. The usual chatter of the twins filled the space, while Aarish silently observed them, sipping his black coffee.

Just then, the doorbell rang.

"Baba, aap naashta kijiye, main dekhti hoon," Kaki Saa said as she stepped out of her room. ("Baba, you continue your breakfast, I'll check the door.")

Aarish gave a small nod, uninterested.

Before anyone could react, a loud, familiar voice boomed through the entranceโ€”

"Rishuuuuu, I'm back!"

A man, around the same age as Aarish, strode inside with a bright smile.

"Advait bhai sa!" The twins exclaimed in unison and ran to him, hugging him tightly.

Aarish watched silently as the chaos unfolded in front of him. He leaned back in his chair, his usual composed self, while Advait smirked mischievously at him.

And then, before Aarish could react, Advait took a running start and jumped on him, engulfing him in a dramatic hug.

"Rishuu, I missed you so much!" Advait declared dramatically.

Aarish, utterly unimpressed, stood still like a rock.

Advik, watching the scene unfold, smirked. "Yaar, kahin dono bhaiyon ke beech kuch chal toh nahi raha?" ("Bro, are you sure there's nothing going on between these two?") he said, nudging Anaya.

"Kya bol rahe ho?! Pagal ho gaye ho kya?" Anaya tapped his forehead. ("What nonsense! Have you lost it?")

"Arey dekh na, dono bhaiyon ki life mein na koi hai aur na hi yeh kisi ko aane dete hain! Toh shayad in dono ke beech hi kuch chal raha ho!" Advik said with a smirk. ("Look at them! Neither of them has anyone in their life, nor do they let anyone in! Maybe they have something going on!")

Then, in mock seriousness, he continued, "Par Anu, humein apne bhaiya ko support karna chahiye. Unhe akela toh nahi chhod sakte, na?" ("But Anu, we should support our brother. We can't let him be alone, right?")

"Advik, you've lost your mind," Anaya huffed, rolling her eyes as she moved away.

Advik shrugged. "Kya yaar, main toh genuinely bol raha tha." ("What, man? I was just being honest.")

Meanwhile, Aarish had had enough. He pushed Advait away, straightening his suit.

"What the hell are you up to, Advait?! Yeh kya tha?" ("What was that?") he asked, his voice laced with irritation.

Advait grinned unapologetically and flopped onto a chair. "Arey, I missed you so much! Just expressing my love, bro!" he said, stuffing a paratha into his mouth.

"Wah, parathe! Kaki Saa, yeh kamaal ke hain!" Advait moaned in delight. ("Wow, these parathas are amazing!")

"Aur tu abhi bhi yeh ghaas-phoos kha raha hai?" He eyed Aarish's salad and sandwich in mock disgust. ("And you're still eating this grass-like food?")

Aarish rolled his eyes, unfazed.

"Beta, aur lo," Kaki Saa offered warmly. ("Take some more, dear.")

"Arey nahi, bas bas, Kaki Saa, ho gaya!" Advait said, shaking his head. ("No, no, I'm full, Kaki Saa!")ย

Then, noticing her tired expression, he added, "Aur aap kyun serve kar rahi hain? Aap bhi khaiye." ("And why are you serving? You should eat too.")

Kaki Saa gave him a small smile. "Main kha chuki hoon, beta. Waise bhi, mujhe yeh sab karne do... baba ne kuch aur karne se mana jo kar diya hai. Pura din bore ho jaati hoon." ("I already ate, dear. And anyway, let me do this... Baba has forbidden me from doing anything else. The whole day feels empty.")

Aarish didn't react, simply glancing at the time.

"Okay, kids, let's go. I'll drop you at school, then I have to leave for Delhi. I'll be late tonight, so have your dinner and sleep on time, alright?"

The twins nodded in agreement.

"Delhi? Tu Delhi kyun ja rahe hai?" Advait asked, narrowing his eyes. ("Delhi? Why are you going to Delhi?")

"Meeting hai Thakur's ke saath," Aarish answered while adjusting his suit. ("I have a meeting with the Thakurs.")

"Par yeh meeting toh yahin hone waali thi?" ("But wasn't this meeting supposed to happen here?")

"Haan, but last-minute changes ho gaye. Ab jaana padega." ("Yeah, but there were last-minute changes. Now I have to go.")

"Main bhi chal raha hoon." Advait said suddenly. ("I'm coming too.")

Aarish raised a brow. "Kyun?" ("Why?")

"Kya kyun? Main nahi aa sakta?" Advait retorted. ("Why not? Can't I come?")

"Wahan jaake karega kya?" Aarish asked, unimpressed. ("What will you do there?")

"Tere saath waqt bitaunga." Advait said casually. ("I'll spend time with you.")

Silence.

Aarish, the kids, and Kaki Saa all stared at him in disbelief.

"Dekha dekha! Maine kaha tha, dono bhaiyon ke beech kuch chal raha hai!" Advik exclaimed dramatically. ("See! I told you something is going on between these two!")

"What?! Shut up, Aadi!" Aarish glared at him.

Turning back to Advait, he frowned. "Aur tum, kya bol rahe ho? Are you even listening to yourself?"

Advait burst out laughing. "Arey, mazak kar raha tha! Aap log toh seriously le gaye!" ("Oh come on, I was joking! You guys took it too seriously!")

Then, getting serious again, he added, "But about Delhi, I really am coming. I have a meeting to attend on Dad's behalf."

Aarish sighed. "Fine. But let's move now, or the kids will be late, and I'll miss my flight."

"Haan, haan, chalo!" Advait grinned. ("Yes, yes, let's go!")

As the airport doors slid open, Advait and Aarish stepped out, their PAs walking beside them. The city buzzed with life honking cars, rushing crowds, and a crisp morning breeze carrying the scent of coffee and possibilities.

Adjusting his blazer, Advait turned to Aarish with a smirk. "Free hoke main tujhe pick karne aaunga." (I'll come to pick you up once I'm free.)

Aarish, still scrolling through his phone, gave a brief nod. "Hmm... I'll text you."

Advait sighed dramatically, placing a hand on his chest. " Theek hai, toh bye Rishu... and don't forget to miss me!" (Fine then, bye Rishu)

Aarish halted mid-step, giving him an exasperated look. "Shut up, Advait. And what's with this 'Rishu' nonsense?"

Grinning, Advait threw an arm around Aarish's shoulder. "Arey yaar, pyaar se bula raha hoon! You know I love you very much." (Oh come on, I'm just calling you with love! You know I love you very much.)

Aarish sighed, clearly regretting his life choices, while both their PAs chuckled at the exchange.

"I'll deal with you later."ย Aarish muttered, shaking his head as he moved toward his waiting car.

Advait chuckled, raising a mock salute. "Till then, keep thinking about me, my friend!"ย

With one last eye-roll, Aarish stepped into his car, shutting the door on Advait's antics. The engines roared to life, and both cars pulled out, heading toward their respective destinations one to a business meeting

โœจ๐“๐ก๐š๐ค๐ฎ๐ซ ๐‘๐จ๐ฒ๐š๐ฅ๐žโœจ

Aarish and his PA stepped into Thakur Royale, the luxurious five-star property owned by the Thakur Empire. They were immediately greeted by the PA of Yuganth Thakur, the Managing Director of the empire. Without any delay, they proceeded to the elevator, ascending to the hotel's conference room, where their much-anticipated business meeting was about to take place.

As they entered, Yuganth Thakur was already present, standing beside two women. He extended his hand in greeting.

"Hello, Mr. Rathore. Welcome to Delhi. I hope you had no trouble reaching here, and I sincerely apologize for the last-minute change in plans," Yuganth said politely.

Aarish shook his hand firmly. "Hello, Mr. Thakur. No trouble at all, and it's completely fine by me," he responded in his usual composed tone.

Yuganth gave a nod and gestured toward the women beside him. "Before we begin, let me introduce you. This is my PA, Meher Anand, and this is my sister CEO of Thakur Empire Saisha Thakur."

Meher greeted Aarish professionally, but Saisha, on the other hand, seemed lost in thought, her eyes fixated on Aarish as if caught in a dream. She snapped back to reality when Yoganth addressed her.

"Saisha, where are you lost?"ย

She blinked and quickly composed herself. "Ahh... nowhere. And yes, welcome, Mr. Rathore, to our lives... I mean, to Delhi. We'll be glad to work with you," she said with a shy smile.

Aarish, unfazed by her flustered expression, simply nodded. "Thank you, Ms. Thakur. I believe we should begin the meeting now."

With that, they all settled down, and the meeting commenced.

After an hour of detailed discussions, the meeting finally concluded.

"So, it's final. Your medical equipment and pharmaceuticals will be used in our hospitals across the country," Yuganth stated. "All the necessary documentation and details will be shared with your PA by this evening."

Aarish gave a small nod. "Thank you, Mr. Thakur. I look forward to working with your company."

"The feeling is mutual, Mr. Rathore," Yuganth responded.

As they exchanged pleasantries and prepared to leave, Saisha suddenly spoke up.

"Wait a second! I wanted to say something."

Everyone turned to look at her.

"What is it?"ย Yuganth asked.

Saisha hesitated for a second before speaking. "I was just thinking... what if Mr. Rathore stays in Delhi for a while? At least until all the legal formalities and procedures are completed. That way, he can personally supervise everything."

Her voice held an eager tone, and her eyes flickered with hope.

Yuganth considered it for a moment and nodded. "That's actually not a bad idea. It would be much easier to coordinate things that way. It's just for a week, and after that, you can leave." he saidย supporting Saisha making her happy completely unaware what was in her mind.

But Aarish wasn't as convinced. Staying in Delhi longer meant being away from his siblings, and that was something he didn't like. However, before he could refuse, Yuganth spoke again.

"Think about it, Mr. Rathore. Let us know your decision by evening."

Aarish exhaled. "I'll consider it and inform you by then."

Everyone agreed, and the meeting officially ended. Aarish shook hands with Yuganth before turning to leave.

As they exited, Aarish turned to his PA. "Atharva, coordinate with Thakur's PA and handle all the necessary paperwork. Also, let me know if it's absolutely necessary for me to stay here."

"Yes, sir. I'll update you by evening."

Aarish gave a small nod while texting Advait that he was free. "Also, get in touch with Sharma Industries. I've already replied to them about my interest in working together. Schedule a meeting soon."

"Understood, sir."

As they walked toward the hotel lobby, Aarish spotted Advait sitting in the waiting area, scrolling through his phone.

"What are you doing here? And why weren't you replying if you were already here?" Aarish asked, slightly annoyed.

Advait grinned mischievously. "Arey, mujhe tujhe surprise dena tha! Toh kaisa laga mera surprise?" (I wanted to surprise you! So, how was my surprise?)

Aarish sighed, already done with his antics. "Let's just get going."

"And where to?" Advait asked.

"To the apartment, obviously. I have an online meeting at 2."

Advait looked at the time and made a face. "Abhi jaake kya karega? It's only 11:40. Let's do one thing let's go to a cafe and grab something. I'm starving!"

Aarish narrowed his eyes. "Starving? Seriously? You had three parathas at home."

"Haan toh? Woh chaar ghante pehle ki baat thi! Ab phir se bhook lag gayi hai," Advait said dramatically. (So what? That was four hours ago! I'm hungry again.)

Aarish sighed but didn't argue further. "Fine."

With that, they left for a nearby cafรฉ, while Aarish instructed his PA to head to the apartment.

As they settled into the car, Advait started the engine and glanced at Aarish with curiosity. "So, how was the meeting?"

Aarish loosened his tie slightly and leaned back against the seat. "It went well. They agreed to use our supplies, but they want me to stay here for a week to oversee everything."

Advait raised an eyebrow as he navigated through the traffic. "Oh? And what's your plan?"

"Let's see. I told Atharva to check if it's absolutely necessary for me to stay. I'll decide by evening."

"Fair enough."

Aarish shifted slightly, glancing at Advait. "What about your meeting? How did it go?"

Advait smirked, puffing out his chest as if he had just won a battle. "Superb, obviously! Main wahan tha, isliye deal finalize ho gayi!" (I was there, that's why the deal got finalized!)

Aarish rolled his eyes, unimpressed. "Of course," he said, his tone dripping with sarcasm.

Advait shot him an exaggeratedly offended look. "Bhai, tu kabhi meri taarif bhi kar diya kar!" (Bro, at least praise me once in a while!)

Aarish shook his head with a small smirk and sarcasm. "Teri tareef se zyada mujhe yeh bata, tu sach mein kaam karne gaya tha ya sirf apni CHARMING SMILEย se he deal final karwayi?" (Instead of your praise, tell meโ€”did you actually work, or did you just seal the deal with your charming smile?)

Advait grinned shamelessly. "Dono cheezein ki hain, tabhi toh successful hoon." (I did both, that's why I'm successful.)

Aarish just exhaled, done with his best friend's antics. They reached the cafe, parked the car, and moved inside.

โœจ๐ˆ๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐žย ๐œ๐š๐Ÿ๐žโœจ

Aarish and Advait stepped into the cafe, their conversation flowing seamlessly from business projections to upcoming meetings. The place was lively, filled with the soft hum of chatter and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. They moved towards a corner table when...

Thud.

A sudden impact jolted Aarish as someone crashed right into his chest. His reflexes kicked in, and he instinctively reached out, steadying the person before they could stumble back.

His gaze lowered.

Wide, startled brown eyes met his deep pools of surprise. A few loose strands of hair framed her face, her expression caught somewhere between shock and embarrassment.ย

She was dressed in a simple yet elegant outfit, the soft fabric of her dupatta slipping off her shoulder from the sudden movement.

For the first time in years, time stilled for Aarish. Everything around him faded voices, movement, even Advait's presence beside him.

All that mattered was her.

{"Yeh kya ho raha hai mujhe? Bas ek pal, ek lamha laga mujhe sambhalne se girne tak? Kyun itne saalon mein pehli baar bheedh mein ek chehra apna sa lag raha hai? Kaise anjaan ehsaas hai yeh?"}
(What's happening to me? Just a moment just a second between holding and falling? Why, after all these years for the first time, does a face in the crowd feel so familiar? What is this unfamiliar feeling?)}

Before he could make sense of it, an irritated voice snapped through the moment.

"Kya bhai, dikhta nahi hai? Kaise chal rahe ho?" the other girl huffed, glaring at Aarish. (Dude, can't you see where you're going? How are you even walking?)

He was about to respond when the girl in front of him turned towards her friend, adjusting her dupatta. "Tanu, shant ho ja! Kyun chillaa rahi hai? Meri bhi galti thi." (Tanu, calm down! Why are you shouting? It was my mistake too.)

She finally looked up, her voice soft yet firm, and for the briefest second, their eyes met again.

"I'm really sorry," she said sincerely without even truly looking at him.

And then, just like that, she walked away.

Aarish didn't move. His eyes followed her retreating figure, something unfamiliar stirring in his chest.

"Rishi, chal!" Advait's voice broke through, bringing him back to reality. (Rishi, let's go!)

Snapping out of his daze, Aarish simply nodded and followed Advait to the corner table. They placed their order, and as soon as the waiter walked away, Advait leaned forward, grinning.

"Waise kya filmy scene tha na? Mujhse toh record karna chahiye tha! Phir main Aadi aur Anu ko dikhata!" he teased, bursting into laughter. (Dude, that was straight out of a movie! I should have recorded it! Then I'd show Aadi and Anu!)

Aarish shot him a blank look. "Bakwaas mat kar," he muttered, shaking his head. (Stop talking nonsense.)

Their order arrived, and they ate in silence at least he did. Advait kept smirking between bites, clearly enjoying himself. Aarish ignored him.

After paying the bill, they stepped out of the cafe. The cool breeze of Delhi's streets greeted them, but even as they walked ahead, Aarish felt something linger from that brief encounter.

He didn't know what it was.

Maybe it was those eyes.

Maybe it was the way time had stopped, if only for a second.

Whatever it was, Aarish pushed the thought aside.

There was no place for distractions in his life.

Or so he told himself.

As Advait drove through the city streets, casually humming along with the song playing on the radio, Aarish leaned back against the seat, his eyes fixed outside the window.ย

Delhi's chaos blurred past him, yet his mind was caught in a different kind of whirlwind.

Those eyes.

For a brief moment, something had shifted within him. An unfamiliar feeling, unsettling yet strangely familiar, had flickered in the depths of his chest.

"Rishi, kya soch raha hai?" Advait's voice cut through his thoughts. (Rishi, what are you thinking?)

"Nothing," Aarish muttered, shaking his head as if to rid himself of the thought.

"Really? kahi us filmy scene ke baare mai toh nhi soch raha." Advait said teasing Aarish (Really? Don't tell me you're still stuck on that filmy scene.)

"Bas kar Advait," Aarish warned, his tone flat, but the flicker of something unreadable in his eyes didn't go unnoticed. (Enough, Advait.)

Advait chuckled but let it go, turning his attention back to the road.

Aarish exhaled, pressing his fingers against his temple. It was nothing. Just a moment. Just a coincidence.

And yet, for the first time in years, a face had stayed in his mind longer than it should have.

Little did he know, fate had no intentions of letting him forget.
